How to Register for Duniya Studio Bellydance Classes at Shenkman Arts Centre
If you’ve been trying to sign up for our Bellydance classes at Shenkman Arts Centre and found yourself a little confused, you’re not alone!
First, let us say: we’re sorry for the confusion. We know the registration process can feel a bit complicated because there are actually two separate systems involved, and both serve different purposes.
Why Are There Two Registrations?
Our Orleans classes are offered through a partnership with the City of Ottawa and the Shenkman Arts Centre. Because of this, the City handles the official registration and payment process.
At the same time, Duniya Studio uses its own student portal to communicate directly with dancers. This allows us to send important class updates, reminders, workshop announcements, recital information, and other resources.
Step 1: Join the Duniya Student Portal (Free)
You will see a sign-up link on the Duniya Studio website for the Orleans classes.
This registration is FREE and is NOT your official class registration.
Signing up in the Duniya student portal:
- Adds you to the instructor’s email list
- Allows us to send you welcome information and class updates
- Helps you stay informed about studio activities and events
However, it does not officially reserve your spot in class.
Step 2: Officially Register Through the City of Ottawa
To officially join the Orleans Bellydance classes, you must register and pay through the City of Ottawa.

This is the registration that:
- Reserves your place in class
- Processes your payment
- Confirms your enrollment with the City of Ottawa
Without completing this step, you are not officially registered for the class, even if you have joined the Duniya student portal. If we see you on our list, but not the City’s list, we will send you an email to follow up.
The Short Version

City of Ottawa Registration = Official class registration and payment
You need the City registration to attend class. The Duniya portal simply helps us stay connected with you.
